Education:
B.A. in Elementary Education with a minor in Music

What year did you begin teaching? How long have you been teaching at VCS?
I began teaching in 1972. This will be my third year teaching 2nd grade at VCS.

Favorite Subjects:
My favorite subject to teach are Language Arts, Reading, Creative Writing and Math.

Why I am a teacher:
I teach because during my schooling, I was very fortunate to have one or two outstanding teachers. They were teachers that taught respect for others by showing respect and love for each of their students. They made you feel as though you were a special person in their class. Their classrooms were a safe, and supportive community in which to learn. One of the reasons I am a teacher is that I want to recreate this kind of caring classroom community where each student can be a successful learner, and is treated with respect and love.

What I like most about teaching at VCS:
I feel very blessed to teach in a Catholic school where I can teach the Good Word about Jesus, and participate in the faith life of the parish. I have enjoyed the warmth of this small community and how everyone strives to support each other. The students are well disciplined and it is a nice environment in which to work.

How my faith influences teaching:
My faith influences my teaching because my model is Jesus. He taught in the temple not only on sunny days but also rainy days. Jesus taught in the joyful times, and in the painful times, and he never lost sight of his mission: to teach us how to walk in His footsteps. I pray each day that all of my actions will show my love and respect for Jesus.
