What year did you begin teaching? How long have you been teaching
at VCS?
I began teaching at a very young age, playing
school as a child and then teaching the children that I babysat.
I taught Sunday school and a 4-H knitting class while attending
high school. My first year as a certified teacher was 1975. I have
taught at Visitation since Feb. 2, 2000.
Favorite Subjects:
To teach: Math and Religion are my favorite.
To learn: I am open to all subject areas.
Learning something new or different everyday is a sign of a successful
day.
Why I am a teacher:
I am a teacher because of the rewards of student
success. It is a wonderful feeling to watch children achieve in
all parts of their life and to know that I helped them accomplish
their goals in some small way.
What I like most about teaching at VCS:
I take pleasure in the country setting that
our school has to offer. I enjoy small class sizes, and being able
to get to know both the student and their parents very well. I enjoy
working closely with the other teachers here; we work hard and well
together. I also have the benefit of bringing God’s message
to the children throughout the entire day and that is very rewarding.
How my faith influences teaching:
Being raised as a devote Catholic everything
I do is influenced by my faith. In the classroom this certainly
holds true. It does not matter the time of day or the subject matter,
faith and love of God is being taught throughout. Teaching in a
Catholic school has strengthened my faith, and hopefully I am helping
all of the students strengthen their faith by my example and by
the education that I am opening up to them.
